Starlink Launches Performance Kit for Extreme Connectivity

According to the official Starlink website, the new Performance Kit is engineered for operation in harsh climates and demanding technical environments — including areas with strong winds, heavy snowfall, high humidity, constant vibration, and on-the-move scenarios.

Technical Specifications:

  • Max download speed: Over 400 Mbps, with future potential to reach 1 Gbps (no equipment replacement required)

  • Extreme weather durability: Operates in temperatures from –40 °C to +60 °C (–40 °F to 140 °F) and withstands wind speeds up to 270 km/h (168 mph)

  • Ingress protection:

    • IP68 when powered off – protects against dust and temporary submersion

    • IP69K when powered on – resists high-pressure washing and water jets

  • Advanced snow-melt system: Handles snowfall rates up to 85 mm/hr (3.35 in/hr)

  • Smart diagnostics: Includes PoE and LAN support, real-time system monitoring, and intelligent performance management

  • Ruggedized for impact: Terminal withstands shock loads up to 50G

  • Power system: Comes with an enhanced power unit supporting backup battery integration

Even better, Starlink says gigabit speeds will be enabled via software upgrades in 2026, with no need to replace the hardware. The Performance Kit comes with a 3-year warranty and is already available for permanent installation with your choice of mount. It’s aimed squarely at users in remote or demanding settings who can’t afford unreliable connectivity—whether you’re managing a mountaintop weather station or hauling gear in a mining corridor.
